Bas Sore
A reliquary is made to hold what remains.
Reliquary considers ecological grief through landscapes altered by extraction: places entered, excavated, consumed, and left hollow. Across the triptych, fragments of body, earth, and organic matter become difficult to distinguish from one another. Each appears as a remnant—evidence of something once whole.
The works imagine the landscape itself as a reliquary, holding traces of what has been taken from it. What remains after extraction is not emptiness, but an absence with weight: a wound, a memory, a record of what was once there.
In these blue fields, grief becomes geological. The body becomes terrain. The terrain becomes body. And both carry the imprint of what has been lost.
