The Vanishing, 2026 considers loss as both landscape and inheritance in echo. The marsh, trees, roads, and places of southeast Louisiana slowly becoming only open water. Made in the wake of the death of a matriarchal figure, the triptych draws that eroding landscape into a more intimate geography of grief. Botanical forms, body, and bird appear as traces: things held briefly by light before they vanish. The work asks what remains when the land that formed us, and the women who carried our histories, are no longer there.
